Optional Objectives:
Kill 3 Scarabs (2000)

This final mission has both a puzzle and a time limit to boot. The puzzle, unlocking the Interlocks around the Portal, is fairly basic: each Interlock has a component on one of the six sides of the hexagon, with a corresponding component on the opposite side. You can only unlock an Interlock permanently by pairing it up with an opposing Interlock. Additionally, there is a proper sequence for doing this based on the glyphs above the Interlocks.

Studied from ground perspective, these seem to represent 3 pairs of alien clock hand positions. The order in which you should unlock them is as follows: South, North (Pair 1 / 12 O'clock glyph), Southeast, Northwest (Pair 2 / 2 O'clock glyph), northeast, southwest (Pair 3 / 4 O'clock glyph). If you unlock the Interlocks in the proper sequence, you get the Thinkin' About My Doorbell Achievement as a bonus.

Before you do anything, send Marines to grab the Supply Crates to the east and west. Meanwhile, your Spartans should clear out the Flood forms around the first Interlock (1A). Hit this Interlock by selecting it with A -- the others won't be so easy -- and send your Spartans to grab the Supply Crates to the north on the portal. Build some Supply Pads and upgrade your station to a Fortress. Your goal is a fleet of Vultures, since they can easily maneuver to each interlock and pack the biggest punch for dealing with Covenant bases and Flood forms that are strewn throughout the level. Thus, use your ample starting Supplies to purchase and upgrade 2 Reactors right away. As a note, there is an extra Forerunner Supply Pad you can commandeer with Marines if you travel east, or counterclockwise around the Portal. Conversely, and this helps on higher difficulties, you can use a Pelican to take your troops and some Spartans over to the Mega Turret on the northwest side of the map, behind the Covenant base. It's empty and waiting if you get there quickly!

Build an Air Pad and start churning out Vultures. Upgrade them when you can and add some turrets to your base (you should be fairly unmolested for now, with infrequent Flood and Droid attacks being your only opposition). There is a Scarab already patrolling the Portal, and that presents a serious threat to your Vultures, so it's best to avoid it. There is a creative way of taking care of this menace, however. Send a fleet of Vultures to the north side of the Portal to the paired Interlock, avoiding the Scarab. Like the other remaining Interlocks, you'll have to clear the nearby Flood forms out before opening it (also, you need to have a friendly unit nearby). Kill the Flood tentacles and infected forms around this Interlock and check for the Scarab's position. It may be on one of the two sections of Portal that you are about to open. Opening the Portal sections will instantly kill whatever is on them (including your Troops).

Now you can build a base on the new northern site and fill it with Supply Pads, an Air Pad, and a Field Armory to up your troop limit. Add a variety of Turrets to each base, including plenty of Rail Guns for the ample supply of Wraiths and Scarabs that will torment you. Meanwhile, send your Spartans and ground troops to the southeast section to clear out the first 2 O'clock glyph Interlock. Send a single Vulture to the opposite side for the paired Interlock -- since there will be no Flood here due to the Covenant and base, you can use guerilla tactics to open the northwest Interlock and hightail it outta there!

You can build a base at the southeast location too, and staff it however you want, just make sure you have ample Turret protection from the Flood forms that abound in this area. Also, the Mission is almost over, so building Bases isn't a priority. If things are getting hairy, remember you have all the different Leader Powers available for this Mission, so use Carpet Bombs at MAC blasts on some Super Scarabs to even the odds.

Move your ground units and Spartans as well as a fleet of Vultures to the northeast Interlock. Instead of inciting a bigger battle than necessary, clear out the flood forms you can see around the directly around Interlock. Have your guerilla Vulture or another at the ready to skim over to the paired, and final, Interlock near the Covenant base in the southwest corner of the map. Since there should be no Flood here, you can activate this Interlock with ease once you get a Vulture nearby. With that Interlock up, you've successfully completed Mission 15, and the Halo Wars campaign!
